Plexinovativa and RENACC – Red de Comercio Comunitario Tarija, an NGO that provides technical assistance to rural communities in the Provinces of Mendez and Cercado, in the Tarija region, are supporting the agroecological transition of 200 farming families and solidarity economy entrepreneurs in Bolivia.

A joint project will systemize the knowledge capital and experience of those farmers, improving agroforestry and environmental practices, to strengthen production, processing and commercialization.

Agroforestry plots will serve as spaces for peer learning and collective innovation by the farmers themselves, all of this with technical support and facilitation by RENACC.

“We want to add value to agroecological family farming production, increase income and improve food security and living conditions of those farmers”, explains Roxana Torrejón, the Executive Coordinator of RENACC. “It is about mitigating the impacts of COVID-19 and strengthening the resilience of families to crises and climate change. In addition, the initiative will take advantage of the potential of agroforestry plots to accelerate decarbonization processes.”

Along with project design, plexinovativa’s support extends from the identification of funding sources to the development of monitoring and evaluation tools.
